Recognising ADHD, autism or AuDHD may help explain your experiences. The next question is often more personal: how does this show up in your life, and what would make daily life easier?
This route helps you build a practical map of your strengths, needs, pressures and changing capacity. You can explore your patterns whether you have a diagnosis, are considering assessment or are still finding language for your experiences.
🌿 This route is for you if
🪞 You understand the general descriptions but want to understand yourself more clearly
🔄 Your needs seem to change or contradict each other
🎭 You cope outwardly but experience substantial effort or exhaustion
🔋 You want to recognise what drains you and what helps you recover
🧭 You want a clearer support priority before choosing strategies
🧭 Start with one recurring difficulty
Choose something specific, such as feeling drained after meetings, struggling to begin housework, or needing both stimulation and quiet. A concrete situation is easier to explore than trying to explain your whole life at once.
Recommended first step: Use the small mapping exercise below with one recent situation. If sensory input is central to that situation, Your Sensory Profile: A Self Assessment for Adults can help you explore it further.
🪞 Build a small personal map
Use a few notes, a voice memo or whichever format takes the least effort. Start with one recent example.
📍 Situation: Where was I, what was happening and what was expected?
🔎 Pattern: What became difficult, and what did I notice first?
🎭 Hidden effort: What was I doing to keep up or appear comfortable?
🔋 Capacity: How did sleep, earlier demands or recovery affect the situation?
💎 Strengths: What came more easily, held my interest or helped me cope?
🌱 Support: What reduced the difficulty, or might be worth trying?
For example, “I struggle with meetings” might become “I lose track when several people speak, the agenda changes and I have no written notes.” That gives you a clearer starting point for support.
🧩 Explore the theme that matters most
Choose a resource that helps explain the situation you are mapping.
🔊 Sensory Processing in Neurodivergent Adults for sensitivity, sensory seeking and overload
🧠 Working Memory in ADHD, Autism and AuDHD for holding and using information during daily tasks
🚦 Autistic Inertia for difficulties starting, stopping or switching
🌿 Neurodivergent Self Regulation for recognising changes in your state and exploring support
🔄 AuDHD vs ADHD vs Autism if you are trying to make sense of overlapping patterns
Look for differences between situations, including days when something works better. Those differences can reveal useful support needs as well as difficulties.
🎓 Choose a Personal Profile course
These paid courses offer a guided way to explore the pattern that matters most to you. Choose one starting point; you can return to other themes later.
⚡ ADHD Personal Profile for your experience of ADHD
🧩 Your Autism Personal Profile for autistic patterns and support needs
🔄 AuDHD Personal Profile for autism and ADHD together
🔥 Neurodivergent Burnout Personal Profile when reduced capacity shapes daily life

🔎 Turn your map into a support priority
Choose one repeated source of friction and one possible adjustment. In the meeting example, you might ask for an agenda and written actions, then notice whether following the discussion becomes easier.
This follows the Map → Identify stages of our Learning Method. Your map can change as your circumstances, capacity and understanding change.
🪞 Three questions to take with you
📍 When does this difficulty become stronger or easier?
💎 What strengths or existing supports could I build on?
🛠️ Which adjustment seems most useful to try first?
↪️ Choose your next step
🛠️ Practical support for daily life to test a possible adjustment
🔥 Burnout, overload and shutdown if you need to reduce demands first
🧠 Explore ADHD, autism and AuDHD if recognition or assessment remains your main question
